So in other news, it looks like the registrations for EuroFurence are definitively closed.

Which in turns means I won't be going.

It's not that I didn't want to. I just wasn't home when the registration opened back in January, and so ended up on the waiting list. Not far into the waiting list, no further than last year, actually, but on the waiting list still.

Fast forward to now, still on waiting list, except there's no waiting list anymore. Apparently things are being somewhat insane this year in terms of attendance.

Can't say I'm not mildly bitter. There's a good number of people I only ever get to hang out with while at EF, in addition to all the good it generally does to my mental health.

So far this has not been the awesomest summer in my life.

But hey, at least the health is good and both my girl and kid are doing well, so it could be worse.

Awe man, that sucks, I was looking forward to seeing you again, you're supernice! Is it a matter of no space in the hotel, or they really can't even give you a registration anymore (the venue did reach the maximum amount of people it is allowed to have inside according to safety standards, but I thought that the waiting list was part of that number and would still be able to get in by just booking another hotel).

I was looking forward to seeing you too. :( And meeting your man as well -- someone who makes you so happy has to pack a good deal of awesome! But no, waiting list doesn't cut it for attendance even with no hotel room, I've checked: they've maxed out the function space as well. Bummer.

Maybe I'll try to buy someone's ticket. Apparently you can do that if someone is willing to sell.

Oh yes, please try that! My guy may know someone who is selling theirs, I will ask him about it next time we talk, to see if maybe the person still haven't managed to sell theirs. Also, checking the EF forums might be a good idea, there should be a thread for people wishing to sell their tickets!

Damn it, speak of a time for LJ to be going down on me. Seems to be back up today though, crossing fingers.

I've started asking around all puppy-eyed about spare EF tickets and I may have found something (I hope I'm not jinxing it by talking about it before it's a done deal...). I'll make a post if things pan out alright.

Mraah. >_< I tried to find a ticket on my own side too, and succeeded, and now guess what? My company decided they can't do without me that week. Somehow our being understaffed was okay when it was me alone making things work this summer, but now that everybody's back they can't do without me.

As far as years go, so far 2009 utterly fails.

Take lots of pictures and hug lots of people for me, will ya? :/

I'd love to go back to EF, but I didn't actually make the attempt this year -- between finances and the "sell out in hours" aspect I knew was coming, I figured realistically I'd have to wait until they got more space. And I got more money. And had a little bit of luck in timing, I suspect. :)

I know it's horribly selfish of me, but I take bittersweet comfort from that: had you been coming, I'd have missed a chance to hang out with you in addition to missing EF and that'd have been like a side dish of suck alongside the meaty suck steak. :/

Car or not, I don't think the staff members will let someone in who has no registration at all. Actually I think they'll be super attentive to the badges given the number of people attending this year. It is really sad that among all those that registered that famous night, P. is the only one not to be able to attend :/

But you're right; Then again maybe it's not too late yet to buy a membership off someone else? Last time I checked Francefurs (okay it was a while back) there were still registered people with last-minute changes who couldn't attend after all.

Yah, as C. says, it's not a hotel room problem: they've maxed out the function space as well. So even sleeping in the car won't cut it.

As for buying someone else's membership, I can try, yes. I find the unpredictability bothers me a lot now that it may mean abandoning C. with the kid on short notice, though. She says it's okay (she's awesome like that ♥) but I'm just not very happy either way.
